Where There's a Need, There's a Lion
Lions Club of Nunawading is a Community Service organisation providing assistance to the disadvantaged in the Whitehorse Community and beyond! People join Lions because they want to use their intellect, creativity, commitment and enthusiasm to get things done.
This is where you can find out about the sorts of projects with which the Lions Club of Nunawading club is involved.
Lions Club of Nunawading pride themselves on our involvement with the youth in our community.
Members of both the Lions and their sponsored Leo club from Forest Hill College combined to participate in the clean up at Blackburn Sanctuary.
Lions Club of Nunawading provides a BBQ for many of Whitehorse Concil's Community events~ Carols, Spring Festival and Australia Day
Lions Recycling for Sight Australia is part of the Lions Clubs International Worldwide Eyeglass Recycling Program, headquartered in Queensland and operating throughout Australia and overseas.
If you would like to recycle any eye-glasses, contact lenses or hearing aids, please contact the club.
Conducted jointly by The Lions Club of Nunawading and The Lions Club of Forest Hill, commences in December at Forest Hill Chase Shopping Centre. Proceeds will be used for Lions Projects within and outside the Whitehorse Community. Christmas Cakes and Puddings will be available at the Raffle desk too.
This year the raffle was drawn by Mr Neil Angus M.P for Forest Hill.
Lions Christmas Cakes and Puddings prices are:
1.5Kg Christmas Cakes - $19.00 each
1.0Kg Christmas Cakes $13.00 each
900g Christmas Puddings - $15.00 each.

Youth Projects
The Leo Club Program provides young men and women between the ages of 12 and 30 the chance to gain essential life skills of Leadership, Experience and Opportunity whilst serving their communities in a positive way, making new friends and having a lot of fun!
Membership is divided into two groups, the school and community based 'Alpha' Leos are generally between the ages of 12 and 18 whereas the community based 'Omega' Leos Clubs have members ages 18-30.
Four Local Secondary Colleges have partnered with Lions Club of Nunawading for 21 years providing students wishing to participate in Lions' Youth of the Year project. Blackburn High, Kingswood, Mullauna and Forest Hill College give their students the opportunity to be involved in this Australia wide competition. YOTY allows students to showcase their leadership and organisational skills as well as their efforts to enhance their community.
The Forest Hill College Leo club was established in 2018 and is sponsored by Lions Club of Nunawading. The club is open to any student of the college between the ages of 12 and 18 and is run at the college with a Leo Advisor from Lions Club of Nunawading in attendance.
Activities run by the Leos include a trivia night, BBQs at college events, and collecting bread tags.
Leos participated in the Step Up Clean Up day at Blackburn Lake Sanctuary.
Each year several Lions Club of Nunawading members participate in Mock Job Interviews. Members roleplay Employment Interviewers with year 9 students giving them real-life practice at participating in a job interview. Students from Mullauna college have benefitted from this experience for the last 4 years.
Licola Wilderness Village
The township of Licola is owned entirely by the Lions Clubs of Victoria. It is the only privately owned town in Victoria and the only one not on mains power.
The town generates its own power, pumps and treats its own water and is responsible for its waste management.
The greater part of the town is occupied by the Licola Wilderness Village, where Lions Clubs since 1974 have run camps for disadvantaged children and special needs groups, mostly held during the school holidays.
Lions Club of Nunawading have supported Licola since its inception and regularly sponsor disadvantaged children 8 to 11 years old to camps.

1st prize winner (contents of giant metal stocking valued at $ 3,000) was Samantha – ticket number 0099
2nd Prize winner (6×4 trailer valued at $ 1,300.00) was Paul – ticket number 2867
3rd prize winner (bicycle, helmet, pump valued at $ 200.00) was Marie – ticket number 1643
