We are the Lions
About Us
Lions Club of Nunawading are “Ordinary people doing extraordinary things”. Since 1960 Nunawading members have been active participants in our local Whitehorse community.
As well as providing community services and activities, Lions Club of Nunawading raises money for worthwhile local, national and international causes whilst at the same time enjoying friendship and social activities.
- Membership is open to all people of the community in good standing.
- 100% of funds donated by the public through fundraising are directed to the project for which they are intended.

Community Activities
Lions Club of Nunawading Club participates in a variety of Community Projects.
Licola Wilderness Village
Licola is a small and attractive village beside the Macalister River, 254 kilometres east of Melbourne.
Club Christmas Cakes
The Lions Christmas Cake and Pudding program has been a major fund raising project of Lions Australia since 1965 and raised more than $56mill.

Why We Join
75 Years of Lions Always Being There
Lions volunteers engage in thousands of community service projects across Australia each year including medical research, childhood cancer, environmental work, vision, hunger, Diabetes, youth, and emergency disaster relief. Where there’s a need, there’s a Lion.

Lions Australia is proud to celebrate its 75th Anniversary in September 2022. Since the first club was formed in Lismore in 1947, Lions Australia has grown to be Australia’s largest service club organisation with a strong history in community service and commitment to improving the lives of others.
Community Grants
The Lions Club of Nunawading Community Grants Program is aimed towards organisations that seek funding for one-off project needs.
Both the organisation and the project identified should provide a positive impact and outcome to the mental, social or physical well-being to their target community group.
- Grant application period open 1st February
- Application period closes 31st March.
- Grant consideration period April.
- All applicants are notified on the second Wednesday in May. The successful applicants will be posted on the Lions Club of Nunawading Facebook.
- Submission of Grant Recipient's Acquittal Form due 31st March the following year
- Successful applicants are invited to a dinner with Lions Club of Nunawading to receive their Grant on the fourth Tuesday in May.
- Maximum Grant Amount is $2000
- The organisation seeking the grant is a Not-For-Profit organisation.
- The organisation offers their services, support and benefit within the Whitehorse Community (in full or to a substantial degree)
- Preference will be given to applications for specific projects, for capital expenditure items. (and not for day to day running costs)
- Applications should demonstrate careful and realistic costings. Provide a quote where possible. If the Grant is to form only a part of a total amount required, detail should be provided as to how other necessary funds for the stated project will be met.
- Any successful grant funds are to be used only for the project stated.
- The organisation should be aware of the Grant process and its associated timelines, and your stated project can fit within these guidelines and time frame.
- Successful grant recipients will be expected to complete the project and return the Acquittal form within 10 months. (Please review our Acquittal form as part of your application process)

How You Can Help
We welcome all fodder donations from hay, non perishable household goods to dog food and other types of animal feed, and of course money donations to assist us in our efforts.
We can’t do this without your help!
Remember, as in all Lions Projects, 100% of all donations go to where they were intended. We’re all volunteers. Nothing is retained for administration.
